News Back To News 22.08.06 JAPE 'FLOATING' TRACK COVERED LIVE BY THE RACONTEURS. The Raconteurs played a cover of "Floating" by Jape the other night at their gig in the Olympia in Dublin. Apparently the band havenow incorporated it into their live set. This is quiet a compliment seeing as the band contains none other than Jack White from The White Stripes, as well as other members of The Greenhornes & Brendan Benson. So how the did all this come about?! The story has it that the band strolled into Whelans the night before their gig in The Olympia. Whilst there, in the splendid company of Leagues & Eamon from Foggy Notions, Raconteurs band member 'Brendan Benson' noticed a poster on the wall that featrued Jape. He mentioned that he had heard a track by Jape and liked it so much that he had learned to play it. He then remarked that he thought the band should play it at the gig the following night. The Foggy Notions lads, having Richie's mobile number handy, put them both in touch there and then, and they called Richie and told him they were going to play 'Floating' the following night and invited him up to the gig the following night, and performed his own song especially for him, and for a packed Olympia! They have been playing the song in their live set ever since. We are hoping to have a recording of the cover from their recent gig in Newcastle up on the site very soon. Eh, nice one Richie! TMIAT
